We hear so many terrible stories of babies being abandoned in terrible circumstances – left in dustbins or out in the open, exposed to the elements. In Durban, there is a place where mothers have a different option: to abandon their babies in a place where they will be cared for and given love and affection. This place is Shepard’s Keep.
Obviously, an organisation such as this needs a lot of money to run successfully and Everyone Counts has come up with a fantastic idea to raise funds for Shepard’s Keep. Everyone Counts consists of a group of artists who aim to use their talents to uplift society. They have come up with an initiative whereby 1000 artists from all over the world have created a 30cm x 30cm artwork which will be sold for R1000. This will raise R 1 million for charity, with much of the money going to Shepard’s Keep.
The exhibition is on from 25 November to 17 December at The Quays on Timeball at the Point Waterfront. For more information see http://www.everyonecounts.co.za/ or click on the pictures.
