One of my favourite Durban galleries, Fat Tuesday in Kloof, is hosting a series of classes over the next few months. Lead by well-known Durban artists, they promise to be interesting and inspiring.

Introduction to Digital Photography Workshop
Date : Monday 24th January                                          Duration : 4 weeks
Time: 6pm – 9pm                                                         Cost : R725 payable on booking
This workshop aims to introduce you to digital photography while improving your photographic skills by giving practical advice which will help you take better photographs.

Creative Writing Workshop
Date : Tuesday 25th January                                          Duration: 5 weeks
Time : 9.30am – 11.30am                                              Cost : R1250 payable on booking
The workshop facilitator is Sue Derwent, a professional writer with extensive experience in news, magazine features, radio and television. Sue has also written 15 books. This course unlocks your creative spirit through writing with practical assistance and fun exercises in a variety of genres.

Basic Drawing and Oil Painting
Date: Wednesday 2nd February                                        Duration : 6 weeks
Time : 8.30am – 12                                                         Cost : R220 per class Week 1-4 compulsory 5 and 6 optional (payable on booking)
Lauriana Glenny offers an enriching fine art course which begins with the basics of drawing (mark-making, tone & shading, perspective, and dimension), then introduces colour theory & composition, leads on to under-painting & tonal structure, and concludes with the art of applying glazes.

Layered Inspiration – Collage with glazes
Date: Thurs 24th and Fri 25th of February           Duration: 2 consecutive mornings
Time: 8.30 – 12                                                  Cost: R560 payable on booking
Artist Lauriana Glenny shares some of her collage secrets that she has used in her works on exhibition at Fat Tuesday.
Come have fun with paint, canvas and glazes and create a multi layered artwork using objects, such as old letters, postage stamps and bus tickets.
