Regular readers will know that it is one of my pet peeves that so few authors have seen the potential of Durban as a setting for novels. So I am always in proxyisms of delight when I discover a new book set in my city.

Malla Nunn is a South African who has lived all over the world but now calls Syndney home. Her debut novel is entitled “Let the Dead Lie” and is set in 1950s Durban when the Apartheid laws were beginning to be enforced. The story revolves around detective Emmanuel Cooper who stumbles across the body of a murdered child at the docks. The plot thickens when he finds himself a suspect.

Sounds good, hey? I will let you know if it is soon!

I loved the cover image of a place which is so familiar to me:

Yay for Durban!
