How can you not be enchanted by an artist whose number one inspiration is her miniature Daschund, Harry? Victoria Verbaan’s work is most enchanting and Harry features ofen as the eponymous Smoking Daxi of Victoria’s Victoria Verbaan & the Smoking Daxi label. Verbaan’s work is whimsical and mischievous and extends to a range of products which include fabrics, fine art prints, linen, canvas totes, children’s clothing and rugs. She has even produced a range of gifts featuring her work for Woolworths.
Primarily a fine artist, Victoria wanted to create a “brand that was fun and uplifiting” which she has certainly achieved. Her wonderful fabrics are available at the Silk and Cotton Co but it is her new range of bags that have caught my eye recently.
Available from Fat Tuesday in Kloof, the bags are made of printed muted beige canvas with beautiful finishes. This range features her “Vogue” fabric in luminous brights which pop off the background or in softer pastel colours for the less daring. The primary motif is a peacock in a variety of hues.
The bags are spacious and durable and will make a fashion statement of any outfit. How about one as a gift for a friend who is expecting? The square tote would make a great nappy bag, I imagine.
