If you’re looking for something a bit different to do on Sunday afternoon, why not attend a lecture about one of South Africa’s most fascinating military events: the Battle of Rorke’s Drift.

The events of the 22nd & 23rd of January 1879 read like the script of a Hollywood war epic and if you don’t understand what I mean by that, you really will be in for a treat by attending the Makaranga event on Sunday afternoon. Fugitive’s Drift’s Rob Caskie will be giving a talk about the battle from 16:00. Rob is famed for his skills as a raconteur and took over at Fugitive’s Drift after David Rattray’s death, having worked with him for many years, and he is sure to make the history of Rorke’s Drift come alive for his audience.

For more information see the poster below:

Get there well before 16:00 to allow yourself some time to walk around the magnificent gardens or have a drink in the newly redesigned Library Bar. Afterwards, guests at the lecture will be able to eat at Nonna’s restaurant with a 10% discount on pizza and pasta. If you are going to the polo, why not stop in at Makaranga on the way back down to Durban for the lecture, a drink or some dinner?
